It comes with a Ted Williams 7.5hp motor with an internal tank which runs well. It has no known problems other than missing tail light on bottom edge and is as pictured but is sold as-is and I would be happy to show it to you locally before bidding for your inspection. I have the title paper work and it is ready to use and go fishing with. I tried the trailer lights and they all light. One tire is original and one has been bought new but both hold air. The oars are original but re-varnished with Urethane. The trailer was primed and painted a medium Brown. The boat seams have been sealed with automotive fiberglass fabric and resin to prevent leakage and repainted with a light blue/green marine paint so the seams are barely visible and was water tested with no leaks. It can take a 7 HP outboard motor but does not include one. It is very light and can be easily carried by 2 people into little ponds not accessible by the trailer. What is the correct oil to fuel ratio? Do I use marine oil or chainsaw/lawnmower oil (I've heard both ways)?Īll help and information is greatly appreciated. Beside these issues, what other things should I look for to fix before I give this thing a good test run on the water? I'd hate for it to blow up on me first time out. I am getting water through the shaft and out the top holes so I'm assuming the pump is still good. The gaskets for the oil hole screws still look good so I don't believe the oil is leaking out from there.
I'm hoping after I install the gasket and refill the oil that this problem is solved. I already opened the lower gear part and noticed it had almost no oil in the gear case so I ordered the gasket (the very bottom one for the lower gear case) from Sears. It starts on the second pull almost everytime and runs pretty good although I've only ran it in a bucket for no longer then 10 minutes. I just picked up an old 1975ish 5.5hp Ted Williams Sears Eska 217.59980 for $80 bucks. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight into the problems I should look for with this motor I bought. I'm new to the whole outboard motor thing.
